Wei Chen is an Environmental Chemist with more than 12- year experiences. He is currently an associate professor in School of Environmental Studies of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan). He was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in State Key Laboratory of Environmental and Biological Analysis of Hong Kong Baptist University before he joined the China University of Geosciences. He was studying his PhD at Lancaster Environment Centre(LEC) of Lancaster University in the UK during 2012-2016. His PhD research project is Fate of Chemicals in Chinese Wastewater Treatment Plants, under the supervisions of Prof. Kevin C. Jones, Prof. Hao Zhang and Dr Andy Sweetman. He received his B.E. degree in hydrology and water resources engineering from School of Environmental Studies of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) in 2009, under the supervision of Prof. Shihua Qi.

Wei's research focuses on the environmental (geo)chemistry and health effects of emerging organic contaminants and persistent toxic substances. This includes identifying emerging organic contaminants in the different environmental matrix and understanding the fate of conventional and emerging organic contaminants in the environment using novel sampling methods (such as passive sampling) and advanced instrumental measurements (such as high-resolution mass spectrometry).
